Update: As of June 2009 we have raised over $500,000!
Dear Present and Future Muirlands Parents,
Most of you will have children at Muirlands Middle School for the 2008 – 09 school year. Presently, Muirlands’ athletic field facility is overused and borderline hazardous.
La Jolla High School solved the field overuse problem in 2000 by installing FieldTurf, which is still in excellent condition today.
Last year, the Muirlands Foundation started TurfIt: a project to resurface Muirlands’ dilapidated field with FieldTurf. Like the High School in 2000, Muirlands will have to raise the required funding privately.
The resulting, modern facility will accommodate not only PE classes and school sports, but also community sports including soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and baseball.
The TurfIt Committee is planning construction this summer, in time for the coming school year. The remaining budget shortfall can be solved if next year’s Muirlands families donate an average of $1,000 per family. That’s less than $3/day for a year.
Some families will be able to donate less than this, others more – the average is what counts.
REMEMBER – IT’S FOR YOUR KIDS.
